Children’s Experiences in Nature and the Future of Water Conservation: A Session with Mozhgan Ahmadiyeh
On 14 July 2026, the Women’s Institute held a session entitled “Children’s Experiences in Nature and the Future of Water Conservation,” presented by Mojgan Ahmadiyeh, a board member of the Child and Nature Foundation.
The session brought together participants and practitioners interested in childhood and environmental issues. Discussions focused on children’s direct experiences of nature and how environmental ethics can begin to develop during childhood.
The main topics discussed during the session included:
- The importance of water for human health and environmental sustainability, as well as the need to help children recognise its value from an early age.
- The role of nature schools in fostering children’s creativity, independence, sense of responsibility, and individual talents through experiential learning.
- The influence of regular contact with nature on the development of environmental ethics, a stronger sense of connection to the natural world, and respect for other living beings.
- The contribution of nature-based experiences to water conservation, particularly in helping to raise a generation that understands the value of water and is prepared to protect this vital resource more responsibly in the future.
Through the continuation of these sessions, the Women’s Institute hopes to create further opportunities for scientific and social dialogue on water, the environment, and the education of future generations.
